Sridhar swamigal was born in Thiruvithangur present in Thiruvananthapuram. The second richest family next to the kind who ruled the place is Sridhar swamigal's family. His parents were Kochi Kuttan and Menatchi. Sridhar swamigal was born as the second son to them. He studied engineering and started working as an engineer for Indian railways. Under the supervision of the chief engineer Kanguli, Sridhar swamigal worked as a engineer in the pamban railway bridge work in the period 1913-14. During that period his uncle Rama Krishna Pillai was involved in Indian freedom activities. He was also running an Indian magazine "Abirami".
Due to the interest towards freedom activities done by his uncle, Sridhar swamigal resigned his government job and worked for the single cause, Indian freedom. Also the Chennai chief minister O.B.Ramaswamy Rediyar joined with the Sridhar swamigal and fought for the freedom. They both were imprisoned for it in the Salem jail. During the release of Sridhar swamigal, his uncle was imprisoned for the same reason in lakshadeep island and died in the prison.To commemorate his great deeds his statue is erected in Kerala law court.
Due to the imense interest towards sprituality, during the free time from his railway job, Sridhar swamigal would meditate deeply in the nearby vinayaga temple. That place has given him immense meditational powers. Sridhar swamigal's spritual guru is "Sri Narayana" who belongs to Kerala. He did not marry and at the age of 1935 came out of his house and was present at the Kannan Kurichi Mortuary for 3 years. He lived in Palani for one year without speaking. Later, he went to Ramanathapuram for 3 yeas and stayed. At 1955 he went to Andipati, Supplapuram, Andhra, Vijayawada, Rajapalayam, etc. Finally reached srivilliputhur in 1969.
He also went from Kaniyakumari to kashmir by walk. So, there is no place that he doesn't know in India. In Srivilliputhur, Mamsapuram his Ashram provides blessing to many people. He has competed nearly 125 years, but you cant see any wrinkles in his skin. He doesn't wear any shirt. He wears only veshti. No shirt or clothes on this upper body. He gives blessing to his followers form 6 am to 8 pm. He has cured leprosy and many other diseases. When a worrisome follower asked the Sridhar swamigal about his son's future. Sridhar swamigal with his subtle powers saw the future and said your son will be working in so and so company in America. It happened as he said.
His breakfast is 2 idly and lunch is with small portion of rice and eats no dinner, drinks only milk. Sridhar swamigal walks for 2 miles and have a bath with cold water and will not dry his body. Due to his blessings many followers got good peace of mind and trivial problems are easily solved. There is a beautiful temple for him in Mamsapuram. There will be programs hosted on Thiru Karhigal Chittirai 10th i.e between April 15 to May 15.
